There are two solutions, depending on the problem you are experiencing...
1. In case you do have in your Recording Devices 2 mics then do below (credit goes to another tech)
Microphone issue of the laptop.
1.Open Control Panel
2.Click on Hardware and Sound
3.Under Sound, click Manage Audio Devices
4.Go to the Recording tab
There you will find the two Microphone icons.
1.Front Panel 3.5 mm Jack
2.ATAPI Internal ATAPI Jack
Disable the Front Panel 3.5 mm Jack Microphone input by right clicking on it. After that the internal mic will start working properly.
2. In case you have one mic and already have installed or upgraded your Conexant drivers:
Go to Device Manager and "Uninstall" all sound devices (select/tick to remove drivers!). Once all (i had 2 for example) restart you laptop (Toshiba A300 in my case). When back in again you should have both installed by Windows 7 native drivers as High Def Sound Devices!
Open you recording devices and double click each of the two mics (yes you ll have two) :-) both working and enabled! Rename or add to the name Front Jack for the front mic and Internal for the camera/int mic!
Additionally make sure you have raised the Boost level to 20% under same properties! (to have a better sensitivity). Rest up to you!
Enjoy!
