Have you tried to search in your work outlook and you see results from a certain date and back? Then most probably your index catalog is messed up/corrupt.
Follow below easy steps to resolve your issue. While your index being rebuilt, i suggest you use the Advanced Search in outlook CTRL+SHIFT+F to avoid freexing your inbox in case you have thousands of emails residing there.
Manually Rebuild the Full-Text Index Catalog:
Find the in which database your mailbox resides if you have many. If not then default path shown below.
1. Start the Exchange Management Shell.
2. Stop the Microsoft Exchange Search Service:
Net Stop MsExchangeSearch
3. Go to your Exchange installation directory (Default is C:\program files\microsoft\exchange server\mailbox\first storage group\ ). In the folder where your .edb file resides there should be a folder starting with the words CatalogData- and then a long mix of letter/numbers for example CatalogData-e583e2c6-f307-41b5-a8fa-e376051f5ffc-cc64dd2d-2428-4f12-bba2-79d6d34c4d27.
Delete or rename this folder temporarily ex ToDelete-CatalogData-e583e2c6-f307-41b5-a8fa-e376051f5ffc-cc64dd2d-2428-4f12-bba2-79d6d34c4d27
4. Start the Microsoft Exchange Search Service:
Net Start MsExchangeSearch
Now your service should be running and a new folder been created in the db folder!
As said use Advanced Search in the meantime so you can give time to your indexing to be rebuilt!
