In case you had a bad monitor, a laptop with dual Intel & AMD graphic cards that resulted in the main windows display to be non visible, all application opening to the default "missing" display, dont be disappointed!!!
I m here to give you the solution to fix it...
I was setting up a laptop with a dual INTEL / AMD on board VGA. Intel was found by windows but once I run the drivers update to install the AMD my main display became invisible as extended. I connected the HDMI and still nothing but got a 3rd one :-)
Anyway, here is the fix..
Right click on the desktop on your visible desktop and select the Display Settings option (win 10 in my case).
The window will open on the default display (missing). It will be active and not minimized (unless you clicked the taskbar icon)
Now click ALT + SPACEBAR + M keys on your keyboard. This will activate the move cursor on that Display Settings window.
Use right or left arrow keys to start moving and bring the window to your visible display.!!!
Now that you have access to the display settings you can make the visible display the active one and main one. You can disable the missing one and set the visible one as your ONLY active display.
Note: Please click identify button to correctly identify your visible window.
Note2: You can also enter F8 Safe mode with networking and uninstall the driver causing he problem but you might find you self at the same spot after drivers get installed again.
