I am sure you are frustrated trying to get your wifi on and you keep getting "cannot connect" error even if you know you are typing your correct password!!!
I am sure you googled and checked all FAQ and methods advised by Retropie on how to manual change by editing files and using the command line as advised here...
It seems the problem might be/is simper even to what the developer thought...
I realized that Retropie is made basis UK locale which means the keyboard layout is different if you leave outside of UK or not using a UK Keyboard layout!!!.
For example the @ is not above 2 but above where " is!!! So if you password has special chars your wifi pass will be wrong and fail.
Retropie wifi wizard works great if the input is correct!
So here is what you need to do first thing (if you are outside UK) after you setup the controller:
- Select from the retropie menu the RASPI-CONFIG option
- Select option 3=> INTERNATIONALISATION OPTIONS
- Change Locale
- Scroll down to find EN UK and press space on your keyboard to deselect it... In my case I used the EN US ISO locale (press space to enable). Then ok
- Now go on step back and change the Keyboard layout to US instead of UK
- You can change the timezone also if you wish in the above menu.
Exit and go to the EMULATION STATION. Go to your wifi and set it up. Password should be correct now and no errors.
Then better go back to the RASPI-CONFIG and RETROPIE SETUP and run the latest updates for system and packages, expand the filesystem to have full space availability of your card...
