During the past couple years there seems to be quite few problems with Skype.
Status of yours and your contacts, messages do not update on time, Skype original accounts do not merge automatically with your MS accounts since the transition/take over.
Part One:
Covert your Skype account to MS account
Initially, if you have ONLY an original Skype account, you need to convert it to a MS Account.
Steps:
While connected to your Skype app go to the menu on top (SKYPE windows), select Change Password...
It will take you to MS web page. Enter your Skype account, and follow the security steps. You will get a message that your account now is converted to MS Account. Enter an email of preferance in the next steps. You will be brought in to the Password Change page. YOU DONT NEED TO if you wish. You can close this window now.
or
1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com.
2. Sign in with your Skype name.
3. It will ll ask you to update your Skype account with an email address...
Sign out from your app and login again. All status and connections should work ok now!
Part Two:
Merge your Skype and MS Accounts.
If you had a Skype account and a Messenger account its good to merge them if you havent done so already.
You have two options. Start your OS Skype. Open the Skype window, and click Microsoft account.
Log in . Then select I already have a Skype account and follow steps.
or
You go to skype.com and login to your Skype account. You will see and option to merge with your MS Account.
Tips:
Open any chat window (it does not matter as below commands are not sent to the chat contact.
See all your remote connections
/showplaces
Disconnect all remote connections apart the one you are sending the command
/remotelogout
* This might not work in all newer versions. But at least you will know with previous command what you need to log off.
** Multiple Skype connections with differennt online status seems to create sync problems.
